Why Should You Hire Me?

I shot a wedding today in Oak Park, CA. (Near Thousand Oaks) It was bright and sunny. I arrived early and looked around the wedding venue for “good light”. Only problem being, it was 12:00 noon. So, I imagined what good light might be, considering which direction the sun would be moving in the sky, and how it would create the right shadows and highlights for this type of image to happen… Soooo… The ceremony photographed well, the reception got under way, and at about 6 PM (April, sun sets around 7:30) I asked the bride & groom if they could spare 5 mins to step outside for a portrait. This exact light was the most intense and ideal for just a few minutes, then it was gone. Simply put, you should hire me if you like this image. This is my specialty.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that everyone should hire me, nor appreciate this style. In fact, there’s probably only a few people out there who I’m really aiming for. If you really love the outdoors, I think we’ll get along and I think you’ll be thrilled with my style of wedding portraits. (And wedding photojournalism…) I obviously can’t create this exact image at every wedding, because of course there is not a canyon with a tree perfectly positioned at the exact time of day and time of year; weather, schedule, etc… But I definitely keep a consistent theme of dramatic light and nature with each portrait session or wedding I go to. I hope my blog gives that impression.

Looking forward to hearing from the couples out there who love the outdoors!
